Registration for Refresh Your Soul opened in mid-November. Here’s what you can look forward to during this day devoted to promoting healthy living through all stages of life.
This year’s keynote speaker is Nick Buettner, a key researcher for “The Blue Zones: 9 Power Lessons for Living Longer.” Over the last 20 years, Nick Buettner has led 17 expeditions to over six continents around the world. Three of these expeditions were to Blue Zones regions—places with the longest life expectancy and where people reach age 100 more than anywhere else in the world.
At the conference, Nick will share the nine common diet and lifestyle habits—the
Power 9®—that keep people healthy past age 100. He’ll also debunk the most common myths about healthy living and aging well and offer a science-backed blueprint for the average American to live longer, better.
Other featured speakers include:
Jennifer Molano, MD, an Associate Professor at the University of Cincinnati Department of Neurology. She specializes in sleep medicine, Alzheimer's disease, memory disorders, and behavioral neurology. At Refresh Your Soul, during “Sleep: An Important Ingredient for Brain Health,” she will discuss the importance of sleep and its impact on brain health. She’ll also share an overview of sleep and normal changes with aging as well as a more in-depth discussion on how sleep issues can affect changes in the brain.
Dave Caperton, a national speaker and author who blends laughter and research to show how living and working with intentional joy is an act of leadership, courage and a disciplined will. In his talk, “Connect, Engage and Enjoy—Little Things that Change Everything” you’ll laugh while you learn choices that lead to healthy and joyful living for all the days ahead. He’ll talk about the ways that a culture of joy drives success, unleashes creativity, strengthens health, increases engagement, super-charges learning, fosters compassionate service and disrupts stress.
Kelly Rogan, MS, LSW, LICDC-CS, a family therapist for over 30 years in crisis intervention, private practice, and alcohol and drug treatment programs. Her passion is witnessing people realize their own self-worth by staying true to themselves and walking their path of recovery. In her talk, “When Helping Become Harmful,” Rogan will provide caregivers valuable insight into codependency, compassion fatigue , and resilience.
