Now Open: Dudley Square patio homes in the Graymoor-Devondale area near Louisville, Ky.
Episcopal Church Home’s popular Dudley Square neighborhood has expanded with 25 new patio homes for seniors living independently in a retirement community setting. The new construction will be finished in the summer of 2023.
When the Dudley Square III patio homes are finished, the campus will have 87 patio homes in the friendly area where residents share camaraderie and a variety of activities.
A beautiful addition to the campus
The first new residents moved to their homes in March of 2023. Buyers already have signed contracts to claim nearly all of them. (Only 3 are remaining).
The ECH campus “has a wonderful community of neighbors who all look out for each other,” said Bryan Reynolds, vice president of marketing and public relations for Episcopal Retirement Services.
Living in Dudley Square gives residents more proximity to neighbors than most people experience when living in traditional suburban homes that are spaced farther apart.
Friendships that are formed in Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) are the main reason many residents say they wish they had moved in years earlier.
Here's a recent blog about the benefits of CCRCs.
How they look
The Dudley Square III patio homes are contemporary and designed with a carefree retirement lifestyle in mind. The Cumberland floor plan offers a zero-step floor plan with an island kitchen, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. The open-concept living room and dining room are adjacent to a light-filled sunroom. The primary suite with accessible private bath features double bowl vanity, shower, and walk-in closet. The home features a second bedroom, hall bath, small flexible room for a study or storage, laundry room, and two-car garage.

The additions are part of a transformation of ECH guided by a Master Plan that will lead the campus through the next decade.

Fun and dining a stroll away
Dudley Square residents enjoy the wonderful gathering space at the clubhouse, where they get together for discussions on various topics. The activities calendar includes wellness classes as well as fun, engaging, and enriching events
The clubhouse opened in 2022. In addition to amenities on the ECH campus, such as dining at Grille 75, one of Louisville’s premier shopping areas, Westport Village, is across the street from ECH. It has nice shopping, quality restaurants, and monthly events featuring food and live music.
When you live independently in the Dudley Square patio homes on the Episcopal Church Home campus, you can throw private parties in the Clubhouse with gorgeous foods like this.

Continuum of care
Another advantage of living at Dudley Square is if something needs to be repaired in the home, ECH is responsible to fix it; Reynolds said: “We’re the ones shoveling the driveways and mowing the lawns so that residents can enjoy their favorite pursuits.”
Aside from friendships, recreation, and maintenance-free living, there’s also another significant aspect to CCRCs like ECH.
Because Dudley Square is part of ECH, as you age and need additional care, you have priority in the healthcare settings over the people in the broader community.
The ECH campus provides all levels of care for aging adults as their health needs change. ECH has a multi-generation reputation in the Louisville market for high-quality care.
