We kicked off May in style here at Deupree House. Our Derby Party was, as usual, a smashing success—more than a few of us went home with a couple more dollars in our pockets that evening! Church of the Saviour invited us to an unforgettable evening of song featuring some of our favorite summery melodies— Gershwin’s “Summertime” (which featured Wendy Haas on bassoon), “Music for the Royal Fireworks” by Handel, Mendelssohn’s “Overture to a Midsummer Night’s Dream,” and the “Triumphal March” from Verdi’s Aida. And that was just on May 2!

7:30 PM: Jack Doll and Lynne Scott in Concert
Our residents are more than familiar with pianist Jack Doll—he’s provided the soothing ambience for our Saturday Bistro dinners for some time now and he skimp on performances around town. This evening, Jack will be back for a special weeknight performance alongside the wonderful singer, Lynne Scott.

Resident patrons have been invited to join the CSO and Pops Board of Directors to a luncheon with the Orchestra! CSO Music Director Louis Langree and Pops Conductor John Morris Russell will be joining us for an unforgettable lunchtime conversation.

7:30: Concert by Church of Redeemer Trio
Church of the Redeemer’s husband and wife soprano and trumpet duo will be joined by a talented local pianist for an evening of song in the Event Center.

5:00 PM: Good Samaritan Mission Kick-Off
We’re kicking of our Good Samaritan Mission with a wine and cheese night to discuss our upcoming plans for the ministry!

6:45 PM: CSO Performance

The Hyde Park Center has invited us to their Tuscan Sun Festival. The fun Italian event, sponsored by ERH, will include a full buffet of amazing Italian food, a raffle, and an auction.

7:30 PM: Polina Bespalko in Concert
We’re excited to welcome Xavier Music Series Director and internationally renown classical pianist, Polina Bespalko into our community for a special performance! Bespalko has concertized in Holland, Czech Republic, Brazil, and Sicily and regularly gives performances in her native country Russia. With her stellar resume, she is sure to put on a great show.

1:00 PM: Memorial Day Celebration
After a delectable Memorial Day brunch by Pete and our kitchen team, we’ll kick off our celebration with the patriotic stylings of the Ron Purdon Qunitent in our sunny courtyard. But don’t worry—we’ve made back up plans in case of foul weather. The show will go on in the Club Room if it rains.

Mercy Health’s mobile mammography van is coming back. The van will be parked at the end of the sidewalk past the lobby entrance of DHII, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Residents who wish to schedule an appointment can sign up for preferred times in the appointment book.
