December has been a busy month for us here at Deupree House. We started December with flair, and we’re all set to start 2016 off right! Just take a look at a few of the highlights from this month’s schedule of events.
Tuesday, December 1
7:30 PM: Irene Calderon in Concert
We’re very pleased to welcome 11-year-old flutist, pianist, and violinist, Irene Calderon, for a special program. Irene currently attends Summit Country Day, and she’s been playing the flute, piano, and violin for quite some time. She dreams of one day becoming a music therapist and she is looking forward to performing here at Deupree!
Wednesday, December 2
1:00 PM: Bus to Blue Manatee
Are you looking for the perfect gift for the small children in your lives? Well, join us on an outing to one of the nation’s largest independent children’s bookstores, Blue Manatee. They specialize in “classics” that are ever-popular with grandparents. The store is owned by the son of our very own Dr. and Mrs. Hutton. On our outing, the staff will tell us all about the favorites. Be sure to bring your dollars!
2:00 PM: Meet and Greet
We have some talented artists in our community—here in Cincinnati and right here at Deupree House—and it’s a pleasure for us to share their fabulous works. This afternoon, come out and meet the artist featured in our dining room, Susan Mahan.

7:30 PM: Queen City Songbirds Christmas Special
Back by popular demand, the Queen City Songbirds will be returning for a special Christmas program that will include a few sing-alongs!
Saturday, December 12
6:30 PM: Holiday Show at McAuley High School
The Southern Gateway Chorus presents its 14th Annual Holiday Show featuring the Southern Gateway Chorus, The Season's Grand Chorus, and Chapter Quartets.
Tuesday, December 15
7:30 PM: Forest Aires Christmas Concert
Come out and enjoy holiday music by the talented women of Forest Aires.
Wednesday, December 16
10:15 AM: Krohn Conservatory Holiday Show
The 2015 Holiday Show at Krohn is blossoming with the sweet twist of peppermint this season! Watch the Poinsettia Express explore a landscape of swirling trees and striped blooms of deep reds and rich chartreuse. Candy cane striped amaryllis, crimson poinsettias dappled in white, spiral junipers, and speckled caladiums create a charming floral setting for this year’s interactive train display and botanical architecture.
Saturday, December 19
7:00 PM: Handel’s Messiah by the Knox Music Series
Join us for a stellar holiday music series as Earl Rivers, Knox Church Director of Music, conducts the 50-voice Knox Choir, Chamber Orchestra, and Knox Soloists— Erin Keesy and Jackie Stevens, sopranos, Theresa Merrill and Debra VanEngen, mezzo-sopranos, T.J. Capobianco and John Humphrey, tenors, and Thom Dreeze and Michael Young, baritones—in Handel’s Messiah. This Knox Music Series presentation is Cincinnati’s only complete performance of Messiah this season!
Sunday, December 20
6:00 PM: Dinner out at Orchids at Palm Court
This month, we will be dining at the Netherland Hilton restaurant serving inventive and traditional American dishes in an ornate space.
Monday, December 21
7:00 PM: Holiday Lights Tour
Crisp air, twinkling lights, and good cheer! Join us as we take a bus ride around the city. Just sit back and leave all the driving to us!
Wednesday, December 23
12:00 PM: Lunch at Sleepy Bee
This Cincinnati favorite is also owned by the son of our own Dr. and Mrs. Hutton! They offer locally-sourced, healthy yet delicious food. Join us for lunch at their new location in Blue Ash.
Friday, December 25
7:30 PM: Christmas Movie
This evening we will be screening the Christmas classic, and Deupree House holiday favorite, A Christmas Carol in the Events Center.
Wednesday, December 30
2:00 – 3:00 PM: Chair Volleyball
Get ready for more fun than you can possibly stand — while seated! Come out and enjoy this fun-filled game that will give you lots of exercise. You’ll leave saying you’ve never had this much fun sitting down!

5:00 PM: New Year’s Eve Party
