Louise Mandell and her husband moved into Deupree House in 2009 and never looked back.
Our senior living community provided just the kind of home where the Mandells could see themselves living their golden years in comfort.
“We had raised our family, and we felt that we needed to get into a simpler lifestyle where there was help,” Louise says then pauses for a moment. “If we needed it.”
And that’s exactly what Deupree House provides.
Low maintenance retirement community living—you’ll never have to shovel snow or even change a light bulb ever again—with plenty of opportunities for meaningful experiences to enrich your life.
And our residents can age in place, confident in the knowledge that we’ll never ask anyone to move into assisted living. An in-house partnership with a local professional nursing care service provides any extra assistance a resident may come to need.
But it was more than the thought of a stress-free life and future care that drew Louise and her husband to Deupree.
Deupree House provides a quality senior living experience.
“One of the things that we have especially appreciated here at Deupree House is the quality of the staff,” Louise says. “Everyone from the cooks and the social workers to the maintenance men are all very personable and very genuinely interested in each resident.”
Louise shares a story about their first meal in the dining room to emphasize her point.
“The dining room, the servers had memorized everyone’s name,” she says. “My husband couldn’t believe it. As we were leaving the dining room the first night, a young server said ‘Good night, Mr. Mandell.’ And he said, very surprised, ‘How does she know my name?’ He couldn’t figure that out because she wasn’t even serving our table.” Louise finishes her story with a laugh.
Making new friends and building lasting relationships.
Deupree House is truly a one of a kind retirement community. Everyone, residents and staff alike, is very engaged from day one.
“Deupree House has done a marvelous job of getting current residents to make a point of inviting new residents to come for drinks and have dinner together which gives you an opportunity for more than just superficial hellos,” Louise says.
This spirit of community isn’t just a one and done deal. Our residents make a point of staying in touch.
“We have a monthly cocktail party that is for all the residents, and it’s just a wonderful time when everyone comes together, and you can socialize and catch up with each other.”
Live the lifestyle you choose at Deupree.
Whatever your passion is in life, Deupree House offers ways for you to pursue enrichment. Retirement community living is what you make of it when you live at Deupree House.
Residents can take advantage of any a number of leisure, social, and educational opportunities that our independent living community provides.
In April, Deupree House is hosting a number of excursions and special events— including musical performances and courses on iPhones, iPads, and iPods to help residents understand and get more out of new technology.
Hobbyists meet to participate in shared interests for those who, like Louise, prefer a more informal gathering.
“There are so many wonderful activities,” she says. “The book club allows us to share our feelings about a common chapter that everyone’s reading.”
Our state-of-the-art Fitness Zone provides opportunities for exercise and socialization. Join a friend and chat as you enjoy a brisk walk on the treadmills or join a group for yoga or water aerobics. We have all your bases covered for a life of mental, physical, and spiritual wellness.
“If I were to describe Deupree House,” says Louise, “I would say good food, good friends, good activities, comfortable living. It’s a wonderful place to live.”
