June looks to be another busy month of celebrations and social engagements here at Deupree House!
At the start of the month, we had the opportunity to get a first-hand account of a unique cultural event when JP Lund, the son of Deupree House’s very own Ruth Lund, joined us in the Events Center to share stories and pictures from his amazing experience in South Africa: Mr. Lund had the chance to travel to Itsoseng, a town in the North West province of South Africa, to attend a “White Wedding.” As a long time close friend of the groom, who is a Finnish-American from Cincinnati, JP was able to enjoy this intercultural experience between the groom and his South African bride.
And of course, June just isn’t the same without The Krohn Conservatory Butterfly Show! This year the show—which turns 20 this season— saw the Butterflies of the Philippines preside over a majestic tribute to the marvelous Filipino culture.

7:30 PM: Musical Guest
The Phil DeGreg Trio is returning, but this time with a vocalist! Interested residents will gather in the Events Center for another night of education and entertainment as these talented musicians present “The Art of Accompanying a Jazz Singer!”
Tuesday, June 9
1:00 - 3:30 PM: On-Campus Health Screening
Mercy Health’s mobile mammography unit will be stopping by our community again this month. This afternoon, the van will be parked at the end of the sidewalk past the lobby entrance of DHII. Residents who wish to schedule an appointment can sign up for preferred times in the appointment book

4:45 PM: Celebrate! Over the Edge
At the start of Episcopal Retirement Homes’ Over the Edge event, which will raise funds for the affordable living communities in our network, ERH will be hosting Celebrate!, a VIP party! In the tent, celebrants will have the opportunity to enjoy music from the talented Comet Bluegrass Allstars, a fantastic barbeque buffet and plenty of local craft beer while watching the 10 brave VIPs rappel down the 10-story YMCA building at Elm and Central Parkway!

12:30 PM: Car Show in Ault Park
Join us as we attend the 38th Annual Ault Park Concours d’Elegance with Mercedes Benz as the featured marque, special displays of both the Ford Thunderbird and Volkswagon Beetle as well as thirteen classes of classic, vintage, and exotic automobile and motorcycles.

7:30 PM: Cognitive Training and Technology
Emily Keeping and Emily Watkins from our therapy team will be joining us in the Event Center for a presentation on how using iPads and computer programs can help improve memory function.
Wednesday, June 17
11:00 AM: BB Riverboats Lunch Cruise
We’ll be spending this beautiful afternoon on a leisurely cruise on the Ohio River aboard the B&B Riverboat, complete with a catered lunch.

11:30 AM: Father’s Day Brunch
Our amazing kitchen and dining room teams are pulling out all the stops for our annual Father’s Day Brunch. It’s sure to be a delightful morning for our residents and their families!

10:00 AM: LeadingAge Art and Writing Show at Berkeley Square
LeadingAge Ohio once again welcomes all residents of LeadingAge Ohio member facilities to attend the Annual Art and Writing Show which will be hosted at Berkeley Square Retirement Community this year. After our viewing of the show, we’ll stop in at Berkley’s full service restaurant for lunch!
Thursday, June 25
7:30 PM: Deupree House Presentation
Emerson Stambaugh, our Health Services Administrator, will be joining us in the Events Center this evening to walk us through all of the living options and services available to Deupree House residents—it’s a great opportunity for new members of our community to learn more about all of the amenities they now have access to!

4:30 PM: Art Gallery Opening
We’re excited to announce the opening of a new show at our Art Gallery featuring an array of sculptures by Dr. Jim Helmsworth!
