Friday October 2
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: DH Wellness Committee Health Fair
Please join us for an interesting, informative and hands on health fair for all residents of Deupree House. We will have representatives from local and nationally recognized organizations to provide services and information to participants. We’ll be covering a whole range of topics, including: hearing and visual acuity, psychosocial health, diabetes management and home management services.
Saturday, October 3
4:30 – 6:30 PM: Jazzmerize in Concert
Join us for a concert funded by the Deupree Auxiliary. Along with the wonderful Dixieland jazz music, there will be a Cajun appetizer buffet and an open bar. You don’t want to miss this!
Tuesday, October 6
7:30 PM: U.S. Coins and Currency
We’re pleased to welcome longtime coin collector, Adam Holterhoff, to Deupree House this evening. As a retired ceramic engineer, Adam has enjoyed collecting coins over the years, amongst many other hobbies. Come out and learn more about our coins and currency.
Thursday, October 15
1:00 PM: Mind Fit Series
Thursday kicked off the start of a fun and informative six-part series, led by brain fitness expert Marcky Biehl from Home Care Assistance. In this Mind Fit series, you will learn about proactive ways to enhance cognitive functioning, including fun group activities used in the Cognitive Therapeutics Method, a science-based cognitive stimulation program.
We’ll be continuing with parts 2 and 3 of the program on October 22 and 29.

7:30 PM: Musical Theatre Love Songs & Duets
Join us for an evening of memorable musical theatre love songs and duets featuring tenor, John Humphrey, soprano, Jackie Stevens, and pianist, Samuel Martin.

7:30 PM: Jazz and Jobim: The Music of Brazil
The Phil DeGreg Deupree House Jazz Series continues with another wonderful program, this one on the intersection of American jazz and Brazilian popular music.
Wednesday, October 21
2:00 PM: The Structure of Our Earth
Our very own Jack Nebergall has done extensive research on how the structure of our Earth has changed over time. Come out and hear all about it!
Friday, October 23
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM: DH Auxiliary Fall Bazaar
We’re starting our holiday shopping early right in the comfort of our own Event Center with vendors from The Bookshelf, Pampered Chef, 10,000 Villages, and many more.
Tuesday, October 27
7:30 PM: History Presentation
We’re getting into the Halloween sprit with detective and true crime historian, JT Townsend, as he investigates an infamous legend: Lizzie Borden, the lady with the axe. This riveting program will explore the relics and sift the evidence from JT’s vast Borden Library Collection, as the author of Queen City Gothic exposes the myths and spins a devastating conclusion to this most notorious chapter in American criminal history.

10:30 – 11:30 AM: Balance Check-Up
Residents can head down to the Fitness Center to enjoy a free balance assessment by our therapy team and learn about fall prevention strategies that will help you stay safe.
2:00 PM: Tour of Ault Park
We’re taking in Ault Park’s brilliant colors this season! On this bus tour, you will get to see the spectacular show that Mother Nature puts on every October, with bursts of red, orange, and yellow hues.

5:00 PM: Halloween Cocktail Party
The annual Halloween Cocktail Party has been a tradition at the Deupree House for many years! And each year, the residents’ creativity is astounding. It is the “not to be missed” cocktail party of the year! The dining room servers will be dressing up so they are inviting everyone to join them!
