Marjorie P. Lee Nears Completion of Master Plan With 3 New Long-Term Care Households

At Marjorie P. Lee (MPL), we are very aware that different people have different care needs as they age. As such, we offer a range of senior living options aimed at providing the optimal environment to support the unique wants and needs of aging loved ones. We’re also committed to meeting the needs of our community members as those needs evolve, which is why we’re especially excited to announce the achievement of a major milestone in our $20 million, three-year master plan: the addition of three new long-term care households. Here’s a closer look at what to expect with these reimagined MPL communities.

For seniors with physical challenges…

Berghamer House - For seniors with physical challenges

If your aging loved one struggles with physical challenges, Berghamer House has been conceptualized with these needs in mind.

Staffed by an expert team of nurses, social service coordinators, life enrichment specialists and wellness professional, Berghamer House encompasses a broad range of care needs, including medication administration, restorative therapy, dressing and grooming, mobility assistance, incontinent care, toileting, bathing, housekeeping services, three meals a day either restaurant-style or in-room, and afternoon and evening snacks.

For the peace of mind of community members and their families, Berghamer House has a nurse practitioner on staff, and clinical care is overseen by a licensed nurse. Residents also benefit from our interdisciplinary care planning approach comprising nursing, social services, nutrition, and life enrichment. And while rooms in Berghamer House prioritize privacy, residents have access to all of the amenities of the community, including the lounges, library, activity rooms and guest dining; in-house satellite television; Wi-Fi; an emergency call system and room maintenance.

The ultimate goal at Berghamer House? To create an experience similar to that of our independent living community members so that every long-term care resident remains as physically, intellectually and vocational engaged as possible.

For seniors living with Alzheimer’s and dementia…

Amstein House - for seniors living with Alzheimer's and dementia

As Alzheimer’s and dementia continue to rise in the population, more families are finding themselves requiring around-the-clock nursing care for their aging loved ones. Amstein House seeks to meet this critical need.

Amstein House community members also gain access to a suite of individualized memory care therapies. Named Living Well Memory Support, this series of programming integrates art, music, advanced cognitive exercise, and physical well-being therapies into one comprehensive, holistic, and individualized approach. To make sure that best practices are in place, all Amstein House staff members are trained in the dementia education program, Positive Approach to Care.

From art and horticulture therapies to daily group walks and Java Music, Amstein House's Living Well Memory Support program is uniquely qualified to serve the challenging needs of people living with cognitive loss.

For seniors looking for the elegance and amenities of home…

Many older adults are put off by the idea of moving into a long-term care community. They've got a good reason to be wary. The sterile setting many people associate with nursing homes is a less than desirable prospect. Enter stereotype-defying Romney House, which mitigates these concerns by providing large, elegant, renovated apartments that truly offer the best-of-both-worlds to residents: access to the highest standards of care, services and therapies with no sacrifice of quality of life.

Romney House’s spacious studio and one-bedroom apartments offer plenty of room for visiting family and friends, while details like high ceilings and large windows with scenic views add to the ambiance. Every Romney House accommodation also boasts its own kitchenette and a large private bathroom featuring a convenient walk-in shower, while the community's elegant private dining room offers upscale meals overlooking the stunning grounds.

Community members at Romney House enjoy an extraordinary catered living approach incorporating concierge services and personalized experiences. A true reinvention of senior living, Rookwood House also offers extras like afternoon cocktails, manicures, live music, and a pillow menu. In short, if you’re wondering whether the good life is possible after a certain age, we invite you to visit Romney House to experience for yourself a long-term care option that truly makes good on the phrase, “the golden years.”

There’s a reason why MPL enjoys top rankings among nursing care centers in the region in terms of resident satisfaction: Our person-centered care approach keeps the needs of our community members at the center of everything we do. From independent living and short-term rehabilitation to memory care and long-term nursing communities like Berghamer House, Amstein House, and Romney House, our continuing care retirement community truly offers something for everyone.
