Episcopal Retirement Services is a comprehensive provider of programs that benefit Cincinnati and Tristate seniors. Since 1951, we’ve worked to improve the lives of older adults through innovative, quality senior living communities and community services to older adults. In addition to staffing full-service retirement communities and skilled nursing facilities like Deupree House and Marjorie P. Lee, we provide in-home services that help seniors who are aging in place.
Deupree Meals On Wheels, for example, delivers daily meals and provides safety checks for seniors who cannot easily leave their homes. Our Partners in Care program pairs seniors in need of medical, dental and vision services with community partners that can provide those services at little or no out-of-pocket cost.
We promise that no resident of one of our skilled nursing facilities will ever be asked to leave due to financial concerns.
And our Affordable Living by ERS initiative works with communities to revitalize challenged properties, by rehabilitating them into mixed-use developments that include apartment communities for seniors of limited means.
But all of those programs require significant funding to operate. In addition, we promise that no resident of one of our skilled nursing facilities will ever be asked to leave due to financial concerns.
Last year alone, ERS contributed more than $19 million toward costs exceeding fees charged to our senior residents and other beneficiaries. As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, we are dependent upon support from the community to continue delivering these vital senior services, and to fulfill our promise to residents.
That’s why the Good Samaritan Mission fund exists. And that’s why, every year, we host a fundraising celebration — our Annual Gala — to spread the word about it.
The Good Samaritan Mission fund is a tax-deductible charity
Proceeds from the Good Samaritan Mission fund go directly toward funding care for the Tristate’s vulnerable senior population. It subsidizes affordable living activities, services for limited-income seniors and financial aid for deserving residents of ERS communities.
There are several ways to support the Good Samaritan Mission and, by extension, Episcopal Retirement Services’ senior beneficiaries.
- You can click here and donate online.
- Donate by phone by 513-979-2308.
- Donate by mail by sending a check to the ERS Foundation, 3870 Virginia Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45227.
- You can attend one of our fundraising events, including the Annual Gala.
The Annual Gala is our single-most important method of funding the Good Samaritan Mission. This year’s fundraiser marks the 10th installment of the event. Our Gala co-chairs, Margaret Swallow and Chet Cavaliere, cordially invite you to attend and show your support for the region’s aged.
Mark your calendars for Friday, Sept. 23!
This year, we’ll hold our Annual Gala at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 at the Cooper Creek Event Center in Blue Ash. The event will feature an elegant night of cocktails, dinner, entertainment and a silent auction.
During the dinner, we will honor the charitable service work of The Diocese of Southern Ohio and Bishop Thomas E. Breidenthal.
Tickets to the Annual Gala are $150 each ($100 each for Deupree House and Marjorie P. Lee Retirement Community residents). A table of 10 may also be reserved for $1,250. Corporate sponsorships are also available.
Tickets and sponsorships may be purchased online. Click here to be taken to our registration page.
If you wish to contribute a congratulatory message or advertisement to the commemorative program for this year’s Gala, please email Kristin Davenport.

Show your support for the Tristate’s seniors and for the Good Samaritan Mission fund!
As Doug Spitler, our President and CEO, has said, “There’s something special going on here.”
This year, we’d love the opportunity to show you what that something special is. We hope that you’ll consider being our guest at our 10th Annual Gala.
You’ll not only learn more about what ERS’ services mean to the area’s seniors — you’ll be showing your individual support and helping us to continue providing person-centered, dignified care to the people who need it most.
