The holiday season is off to a bright start here at Marjorie P. Lee. We’ve got a whole month of special events and musical performances in store, just take a look at some of the highlights on our December calendar!
Thursday, December 3
2:30 PM: Special Musical Performance
In honor of what would have been Frank Sinatra’s hundredth birthday, the Casino Players Trio and Matt Snow, the Cincinnati Sinatra, joined us for a special performance of all Ol’ Blue Eyes’s best!
Monday, December 7
2:00 PM: Annual Tree Lighting
Today we kicked off the holiday season in style with our Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in the Shaw Lobby with refreshments and musical accompaniment by Mike Pendell!
Tuesday, December 8
5:00 PM: Dinner Out
We’re headed out for dinner at the Greyhound Tavern in Fort Mitchel, Kentucky! This wonderful restaurant was originally opened in 1921 as the Dixie Tea Room. Though the restaurant has changed through the years, it’s still serving up all your favorite comfort foods with a little slice of old fashioned Southern hospitality!

9:45 AM: Krohn Conservatory Holiday Show
It’s off to the Holiday Show at the Krohn Conservatory! The 2015 Holiday Show, Poinsetta Express, is blossoming with the sweet twist of peppermint this season, featuring a landscape of swirling trees and striped blooms of deep reds and rich chartreuse. Candy can striped amaryllis, crimson poinsettias dappled in white, spiral junipers, and speckled caladiums create a charming floral setting for an interactive train display that interweave through fascinating “gingerbread” houses made of all-natural materials.

6:00 PM: Holiday Light Show
This evening we’re headed to Hamilton, Ohio to take in the holiday lights at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park. The seasonal display, “Lights on the Hill,” is a 2 mile drive that highlights the park’s spectacular sculptures and natural features.
Wednesday, December 16
7:00 PM: CCM Performance
This evening the CCM’s Pattie Hattendorf will present the first of two Christmas recitals, each of which will feature 6 student performers playing a selection of all our favorite Christmas songs!
Friday, December 18
6:45 PM: Cincinnati Ballet
Christmas in Cincinnati doesn’t feel like Christmas without the Nutcracker, and this evening we’ll be offering transportation to and from the Cincinnati Ballet’s annual performance for resident ticket holders.
Sunday, December 20
3:30 PM: CCM Performance
This evening we’re pleased to welcome Pattie Hattendorf and her piano students back for a second evening of Christmas recitals!
Tuesday, December 22
5:00 PM: Dinner Out
We’re headed to Palomino on Fountain Square for dinner this evening. Famous for its unique hardwood fired Mediterranean cooking, this “Urban Italian” restaurant features a menu of versatile, imaginative options that are sure to please even the most discerning palate.

3:00 PM: Christmas Eve Service
Our community chaplain will be holding a special Christmas Eve service for our residents this afternoon in the Chapel.

7:00 PM: Special Musical Performance
Today we’re pleased to welcome special guest Time Gold Rainer for an evening of song! Tim, who grew up on the West Side of Cincinnati and began performing at a young age, is most well-known as the lead singer of the Menu’s, but he also enjoys performing the songs he remembers fondly listening to with his father—from Nat King Cole to John Denver.

7:00 PM: New Year’s Eve Party
All aboard the USS Marjorie P. Lee! This evening we celebrate in the Mid-Atlantic and toast 2016 at a swinging New Year’s Eve Party, featuring plenty of drinks, hors d’oeuvres and music by the phenomenal 6-piece band Swing Shift!
