Episode 42: Bloom Where You're Planted
For our forty-second episode, we hear from Dudley Square Resident Judith Conn, as well as President and CEO Laura Lamb.
Below are photos taken during our Ukrainian Eggs learning session with Judith Conn. She makes and teaches the ancient art known as pysanky. In the context of Orthodox Christianity, women would write pysanky during the last week of Lent, a 40-day season of preparation for Easter. The eggs would be blessed and then, like their ancestors, the Christians would place the eggs around their home and farm. The last photo is Judith’s Night Blooming Cereus Cactus, Queen of the Night, a very fragrant trumpet-shaped flower, which blooms for only one night in June or July.
