Here we are at midsummer in Cincinnati! Every senior living at Deupree House will have a full calendar of outings and activities to enjoy this July.

Today, wanted to share with you all the fun things our residents are looking forward to. Check them out below.


July Events

Saturday, July 1

7:30 p.m.

Movie night. It’s Saturday Cinema night! Come down to the Event Center for our first movie of the month, A Dog’s Purpose.


Sunday, July 2

1 p.m.

Worship service. Join us in the Chapel. We meet every Sunday at this time to worship.


Monday, July 3

10:30 a.m.

Bible study. Our Bible study group meets every Monday morning at this time in the Private Dining Room.

Art class. Come down to the Art Studio, where our volunteer instructor, Jamie, will lead our copper enameling class.


Tuesday, July 4

Happy Independence Day, Deupree family!

11 a.m.  – 12:30 p.m.

Holiday brunch. Deupree residents, their visiting family members and friends are all invited to the Dining Room for a special Fourth of July brunch. Casual dress.

1 PM

Fourth of July celebration. Our recognition of the Fourth will continue in the Club Room, with patriotic music by the Jeanine Groh Quartet. Come out, hear your favorite patriotic songs and enjoy the holiday!


Wednesday, July 5

Artist reception and show opening. This afternoon, in the Dining Room, we’ll hold a meet-and-greet with our featured artist for July, Kathy Francis.

7:30 p.m.

Netflix series screening. Did you enjoy Downton Abbey? Then you’ll probably love Netflix’s original series, The Crown, an episodic and fascinating bio-drama about Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, starring Claire Foy and John Lithgow. We’ll gather in the Event Center tonight for the last episode of the season!


Thursday, July 6

8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Book giveaway. Come and see what gems the Library Committee is giving away. Pick up a novel or non-fiction book and help us make room for new titles.

6:45 PM

Group outing. Tonight, we’ll attend the Cincinnati Opera’s performance of Frida, based on the life of the revolutionary, early 20th century Mexican painter.


Friday, July 7

8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Podiatrist visit. Dr. Adams will be on-site today for foot checkups and orthotic fittings.

1 p.m.

Art class. Join us this and every Friday afternoon in the Art Studio for our Informal Mixed Media Painting series.


Saturday, July 8

7:30 p.m.

Movie night. Our second Saturday Cinema event of the month, featuring the film Loving, will take place in the Event Center.




Sunday, July 9

6 p.m.

Sip ‘n’ Sup fundraiser dinner. If you’ll be attending, please turn in your $7 plate fee to Life Enrichment by July 6.

Group outing. Residents tonight also have the option of dining out at Red Feather (pictured). Located in in Oakley, the eatery is a contemporary American farm-to-table restaurant, offering an upscale casual dining experience with an emphasis on classic culinary techniques.


Tuesday, July 11

1 p.m.

Literary salon. Our resident book club will meet today in the Conference Room.

7:30 p.m.

“Is There a Doctor in the House?” science lecture series. New Deupree House resident and former UC College of Medicine instructor Dr. Roger Smith will give an informational science lecture, “The New Medicine: Molecules, Genomics and Treatment Outcomes.” Dr. Smith will discuss how new methods of genomics have greatly changed doctors’ approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases — particularly, the treatment of cancer.


Wednesday, July 12

2 p.m.

Caregiver support group. All caregivers from the community, as well as Deupree House residents and their family caregivers, are welcome at our monthly support group meeting.

7:30 p.m.

Bingo night. It’s time again for everyone’s favorite game! Feeling lucky? Join us in the Event Center every second and fourth Wednesday evening for bingo, prizes and good times with your Deupree House neighbors.


Thursday, July 13

1 p.m.

Card games. Come play duplicate bridge with us in the Club Room!


Friday, July 14

1 p.m.

Card game. We play bridge this and every Friday in the Club Room. Come down and play a few hands!


Saturday, July 15

9:30 a.m.

Group outing. This morning, we’ll shop at Findlay Market, Cincinnati’s famous open-air grocery and foodie destination!

7:30 p.m.

Movie night. It’s time for Saturday Cinema! Come down to the Event Center and watch this week’s film, Gifted.


Tuesday, July 18

3 p.m.

Trivia Tuesday. Gather your smartest chums and meet us in the Conference Room. We play for prizes, bragging rights and laughs every first and third Tuesday afternoon!

7:30 p.m.

Concert. Come to the Event Center this evening for a beautiful solo recital by a student artist from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).


Wednesday, July 19

2:30 p.m.

Group outing. This afternoon, we’ll visit Cincinnati’s Shriners Hospital for Children, to learn more about how it provides amazing, specialized care to children with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate disorders. We may even get an opportunity to visit their research floor!

7:30 p.m.

Special interest movie night. Are you a film buff? Interested in watching classic movies, documentaries or independent films? Then join us on the third Wednesday of each month in the Event Center for our new Special Interest film series! These movies will be nothing like our weekly Saturday Cinema movies. Tonight’s film is The Emperor’s Club.


Thursday, July 20

5 p.m.

Cocktail party. Come down to the Club Room, meet and greet your Deupree House neighbors, and enjoy drinks and light refreshments.

6:45 p.m.

Group outing. Tonight, we’ll attend the Cincinnati Opera’s performance of The Magic Flute, a Mozart classic.


Friday, July 21

6 p.m.

Computer assistance. Need help figuring out how to operate your new computer, tablet, smart TV, or mobile device? Having software issues or outage problems? Do you suspect adware or a virus might be slowing your computer down? No worries! Our volunteer information technician, Ronaldo, can help you (by appointment) every Friday evening between 6-10 p.m. Check the schedule for available slots.

7:30 p.m.

Movie night. Watch Patriots Day in tonight’s Saturday Cinema screening in the Event Center.


Tuesday, July 25

7:30 p.m.

Cincinnati Reds alumnus meet-and-greet. Come down to the Event Center this evening for a special opportunity to meet retired Cincinnati Reds pitcher Tom Browning!

Wednesday, July 26

4 p.m.

Great Decisions meeting. Our Great Decisions group meets this afternoon in the Private Dining Room.

7:30 p.m.

Bingo night. Come down to the Event Center and bring your lucky rabbit’s foot!


Friday, July 28

8 – 9:30 a.m.

Newcomers group. A big move, like the one to Deupree House, can make you feel like a freshman again! Join our newcomers group. Get to know your new neighbors, and share some laughs and conversation. We meet for coffee and donuts in the Private Dining Room the last Friday of each month. Please sign up in the Activity Book.


Saturday, July 29

7:30 p.m.

Movie night. It’s our last Saturday Cinema viewing of the month. Come down to the Event Center and watch the 1951 comedy The Lavender Hill Mob with us!


Monday, July 31

4 p.m.

Resident council. Our monthly resident council meets this afternoon in the Event Center. Come join us and stay abreast of all the news and happenings at Deupree House.

Bryan Reynolds
June 28, 2017
Bryan Reynolds is the Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for Episcopal Retirement Services (ERS). Bryan is responsible for developing and implementing ERS' digital marketing strategy, and overseeing the website, social media outlets, audio and video content and online advertising. After originally attending The Ohio State University, he graduated from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a Bachelor of fine arts focused on electronic media. Bryan loves to share his passion for technology by assisting older adults with their computer and mobile devices. He has taught several classes within ERS communities as well as at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute run by the University of Cincinnati. He also participates on the Technology Team at ERS to help provide direction. Bryan and his wife Krista currently reside in Lebanon, Ohio with their 5 children.
