Still, there’s plenty going on at Deupree House this month. As always, we have a pretty full calendar of activities and events that our residents can choose to participate in and enjoy.

Let’s take a look at what we’re looking forward to as another mid-summer comes to a close in Cincinnati:

Monday, July 18

10:30 a.m.

Bible study. Every Monday at this time, our Bible study group meets in the Chapel. Come join our group!

1 p.m.

Shopping excursion to Hyde Park Plaza. We’ll be bussing over for a bit of shopping and lunch. Residents can get groceries at Kroger, stop into Starbucks for a coffee, browse through the clothing shops, run to the bank or have a meal in any of a number of restaurants.

 

Tuesday, July 19

1 p.m.

Art class. Our popular art instruction series resumes. Come down to the Art Studio and learn new techniques!

2 p.m.

Trivia. Introducing Trivia Tuesday! Join us as we exercise our brains with some fun afternoon trivia. We’ll meet every other Tuesday. Prizes available for the smartest cookies each week!

 

Wednesday, July 20

7:30 p.m.

Concert. Back on Memorial Day, a young man amazed us all when he sang a song with the Jump ‘n’ Jive Band here at Deupree. Well, now he’s a new graduate and 18-year-old singer Taylor Cooper is coming back to perform jazz standards for us in a full concert of his own. The concert will take place in the Event Center.

 

Thursday, July 21

5 p.m.

Cocktail party. Come meet your Deupree House neighbors and their visiting family and friends! We’ll host a cocktail party in the Club Room. Your favorite drinks and light appetizers will be served.

 

Friday, July 22

1 p.m.

Card games. Come play Bridge with us in the Club Room. It’s a great way to have fun and meet other seniors!

6 p.m.

Computer help. Every Friday evening from 6 to 10 p.m., our volunteer instructor / troubleshooter Ricardo comes in to render computer assistance to residents. Schedule your appointment and let him help you with your questions about computers, iPads, iPhones, Apple TVs, Kindle, Nook and other mobile devices!

Saturday, July 23

3:45 p.m.

Worship service. For residents wishing to attend service at St. Mary’s, the bus departs at this time every Saturday.

7:30 p.m.

Movie night. Join us in the Event Center for our Saturday Cinema series! Tonight’s installment will be director Damien Chazelle’s 2014 drama Whiplash, starring Miles Teller, JK Simmons and Paul Reiser. From the plot summary: “A promising young drummer enrolls at a cut-throat music conservatory where his dreams of greatness are mentored by an instructor who will stop at nothing to realize a student's potential.”

 

Sunday, July 24

9:15 a.m.

Worship service. For residents wishing to attend services at Christ Church or Knox Church, the bus departs at this time every Sunday.

1 p.m.

Worship service. The Deupree House Chapel will hold its weekly Sunday service at this time.

 

Monday, July 25

1 p.m.

Shopping excursion to Hyde Park Plaza. The bus departs every Monday at 1 p.m.

4 p.m.

Resident Council meeting. Our monthly Deupree House Resident Council meeting will take place in the Event Center today.

 

Tuesday, July 26

10 a.m.

Group tour. “The Murals of Downtown Cincinnati.” Did you hear how wonderful our bus tour of the murals was a few years ago? Well if you missed out on the trip, here’s your chance to see and hear about all the beautiful murals in downtown Cincinnati. And if you went on the last tour, come along for this one, too — there are several brilliant new murals we’ll see!

 

Wednesday, July 27

6:45 p.m.

Group outing. Tonight we away to the Cincinnati Opera! We’ll see Tosca. From the summary: “The fiery diva Tosca, great star of the Roman stage, is desired by two men: Cavaradossi, the painter who loves her sincerely, and Scarpia, the police chief who longs to possess her.”

Thursday, July 28

7:30 p.m.

Wii Bowling tournament. Our teams have been practicing all month! Come join us in the Event Center tonight for our popular annual video bowling tournament. It’s always a blast!

 

Saturday, July 30

Movie night. Our Saturday Cinema series continues tonight in the Event Center! We’ll watch Gordon Douglas’ light-hearted 1954 musical Young at Heart, starring Cincinnati native Doris Day, Frank Sinatra and Ethyl Barrymore.

Bryan Reynolds is the Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for Episcopal Retirement Services (ERS). Bryan is responsible for developing and implementing ERS' digital marketing strategy, and overseeing the website, social media outlets, audio and video content and online advertising. After originally attending The Ohio State University, he graduated from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a Bachelor of fine arts focused on electronic media. Bryan loves to share his passion for technology by assisting older adults with their computer and mobile devices. He has taught several classes within ERS communities as well as at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute run by the University of Cincinnati. He also participates on the Technology Team at ERS to help provide direction. Bryan and his wife Krista currently reside in Lebanon, Ohio with their 5 children.
